Your first time out should be a test for all your gear, and really want you need to bring.
Engagement Wise: Ammo, brings LOTS and LOTS of AMMO, magazines especially so you dont have to pull out the ramming rod and be a target in the open.
Sling: Carrying an AEG not so bad, but when you have to switch to your secondary yeah, need something to hold it, make sure its a three point too. Two points only go over the shoulder and you have to take it off and on to use it.
Clothing: BDUs, gear, all that great stuff, but carry what you need, remember, and mod your gear to the envirnoment.
MISC:
WATER! After even about 15 minutes of running and physical diving, shooting, covering and etc, you will get dehydriated, use a hydriation system, water, or sports drink works, but dont use pop, because it gets warm, and hot. I guess you can use beer, if you want to get drunk and all, but thats up to you.
Prepare as much as you can the night before, batteries, gas, etc, make a check list, and use it everytime, ad to it when you come back from your engagements, what could make the combat easier, and etc.

good tips. i played yesterday for about 8 hours and it was hot. burned right through a case of beer in no time. we play pistols 2v2 each man can have 2 clips and one gun or 2 guns with one clip each. 3 tags is out. first team out loses. or the teams that has the least amount of players or the most tags in the event that everyone runs out of ammo. then reload the clips and repeat. this works great with small numbers of players and limited guns. this is also great for when u are playing in a yard.
